Applying motor resonance to humanoid robots

چکیده

As humanoid robots are likely to become present in our societies, it is important to understand humans’ reactions to these agents and to develop neuromimetic models of robots’ motor learning. Motor resonance is an emerging framework based the overlap between neural processes involved in the execution and the perception of human actions. In this review of previous works, I will present a paradigm that has demonstrated that humanoid robots cause motor resonance in humans. Motor resonance has also been applied to motor learning by imitation, demonstrating that basic forms of imitation can emerge in a simple robotic system controlled by visuomotor association network. These practical applications of motor resonance to the study and implementation of human-robot interactions provide a promising neuromimetic framework for further developments in humanoid robotics.

PSO-Based Path Planning Algorithm for Humanoid Robots Considering Safety

In this paper we introduce an improvement in the path planning algorithm for the humanoid soccer playing robot which uses Ferguson splines and PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization). The objective of the algorithm is to find a path through other playing robots to the ball, which should be as short as possible and also safe enough. Ferguson splines create preliminary paths using random generated para...

How to generate natural female walking with high heels?

People can differentiate walking patterns of women wearing high heels or flat shoes with little doubt. Now, how to generate high-heeled walking motion for female humanoid robots is another question. We can think of applying captured motion data of women wearing high heels directly on the robots. However, we believe that more natural motion would be produced by extracting characteristics of the ...

A Low Friction Demanding Approach in Gait Planning for Humanoid Robots During 3D Manoeuvres

This paper proposes a gait planning approach to reduce the required friction for a biped robot walking on various surfaces. To this end, a humanoid robot with 18 DOF is considered to develop a dynamics model for studying various 3D manoeuvres. Then, feasible trajectories are developed to alleviate the fluctuations on the upper body to resemble human-like walking. In order to generate feasible w...

Is imitation learning the route to humanoid robots?

This review investigates two recent developments in artificial intelligence and neural computation: learning from imitation and the development of humanoid robots. It is postulated that the study of imitation learning offers a promising route to gain new insights into mechanisms of perceptual motor control that could ultimately lead to the creation of autonomous humanoid robots. Imitation learn...

Statistical Learning for Humanoid Robots

The complexity of the kinematic and dynamic structure of humanoid robots make conventional analytical approaches to control increasingly unsuitable for such systems. Learning techniques offer a possible way to aid controller design if insufficient analytical knowledge is available, and learning approaches seem mandatory when humanoid systems are supposed to become completely autonomous. While r...
